For my birthday I got a J.Crew gift card and I never thought that it would be used to brighten up a young couples week!
This past summer I received a $100 gift certificate for my 21st birthday to my favorite clothing store J.Crew! I was so excited when I got it because I was just dreaming of the stylish clothes I could get with that amount of money! In the past couple of months, I have been shopping at J.Crew looking for just the right piece of clothing to buy with that gift certificate. Of course I was able to find lots of cute clothes, but every time I went up to the cash register to buy them I was not able too!
Over the past month, I have been praying that the Lord would help me to have a more generous heart. One night, I was driving in my car and thinking about this young married couple who are friends of mine. A year ago, they shared with me that they never buy clothes for themselves because its not in their budget. And then it hit me, that J.Crew gift card belonged to them! A couple days later I sent it to them in the mail.
They called me when they received the gift card and they were so thankful! They shared with me that they have had one of the hardest weeks of their marriage and this was just a reminder of how faithful the Lord is! It gave me such joy to know that such a simple act of generosity could remind them that the Lord is with them always and will continue to provide for all their needs!
