I Like Tuesdays.

Every Tuesday night I coach a special Olympics swim team
Freshman year of high school ( 2 yrs ago, gulp) I began swimming with my local special Olympics swim team, by my senior year of high school I was the head coach. No matter what else is going on my life; who I’m dating, where I’m working, what I’m studying, good bad or indifferent, on Tuesday nights I make the hour drive to a high school pool. I unlock the doors to a quiet room with a placid pool. I pull out kick boards as our steadfast volunteers arrive and begin to chat about what’s new, before long the whole room is a buzz! Our athletes are catching up, yelling, singing, splashing and sometimes even swimming. There are athletes floating and volunteers trying out their sign language skills, there is a flying beach ball and diving, and more cheering then you knew could be packed into an evening. It is loud and it busy- beyond busy, to an outsider it looks like an uncontrolled mess, to me it is the most beautiful chaos! I more than like Tuesdays, I love them!
