Giving Meaningful Connection is Easy
This isn’t just my story…we saw a need this holiday season to connect holiday shoppers to what matters to them about their gift giving and the holidays. We decided to take courageous conversation and coaching with strangers to the Eaton Centre in Toronto. 19 of us came together in Flash Mob style, t-shirts on, and decided to stop people and engage them in meaningful conversation. Some people just walked on by or firmly said no AND others were pleasantly surprised that we didn’t want anything from them, we wanted to give them something. As a result, in short conversations, strangers opened up, got in touch with important, meaningful things to them, shared touching, inspiring stories and committed to some things that they really wanted to create and experience this holiday season and in their life. We were touched, honored, inspired, moved and in love with human beings and humanity. One of my surprising realizations was the impact of the people that just walked by us, that dismissed or disregarded us. I have a new awareness around when I do that, when I may disregard the human in front of me when I am not interested in their service or what they have to offer me. I now commit to giving that human a moment to see them as a human being. We had an intention that ‘Meaningful Connection is Easy’ and it was.
