Bandaid Drive & Tshirt sales to help other children with Kidney Disease or effected by Organ Donation
My son was born with a variant of a rare syndrome that led to kidney disease. When he was born, I felt alone. I decided to start a support group for other Mom’s like myself. After a while, I decided to start a facebook page called “Oakleys Opportunity”. I use this page to educate other’s on the importance of organ donation as my son will need a kidney transplant as he grows older. By utilizing our facebook page, we held our first band-aid drive for our local Children’s hospital Nephrology Unit. We were featured on the local news and will be delivering our bandaids on 2/20/14 before some scans my son has scheduled. I have also recently launched a campaign for t-shirts. With each shirt sold, the proceeds will go to our Oakley’s Opportunity Transplant Fun Packages. These will be packages that are delivered to transplant children and their siblings. They can range from pajamas, art supplies, video games, to crafts. Many people are responding with enthusiasm to help my cause and in return help other children. This makes me feel wonderful because I know that even a little bandaid can make things so much better.
