I Like Nursing fees
Submitted by Frances
As I left the store I knew I couldn't just drive back to Starbucks, pull out my nursing textbooks, and start studying
I was talking to Holly, the cashier at Walgreens. She asked me about school and I told her I was in nursing school. She told me about one of her coworker who had finished nursing school, but did not have enough money to take the NCLEX (licensure exam for nursing).
“In fact I just relieved her of a shift this morning. She looked exhausted.”
As I left the store I knew I couldn’t just drive back to Starbucks, pull out my nursing textbooks, and start studying knowing that someone had worked so hard to pass nursing school, but didn’t have the money to take the exam.
I pulled out my iPhone, looked up the nursing registration fees, and wrote a check. I went back into the store and picked out a congratulations card.
I told Holly that there was one thing I had forgotten. She scanned the card and I asked her for the name of the girl. As I pulled out the check to finish filling it out, all she could say is, “Are you really doing this? I can’t believe it.”
I signed the card and check. I handed them to Holly, so she could deliver them. Holly shared a giving story with me and together we experienced the joy and excitement of giving to unsuspecting strangers.
